Welcome to MLK!
The mission of Martin Luther King Jr. Academic Magnet School is to provide a rigorous and respectful academic environment emphasizing science and mathematics that prepares all students for successful post-secondary study and a productive, purposeful life.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Academic Magnet, located near downtown, is the only magnet school for grades 7-12 in the Metro Nashville Public School System. Applicants who meet defined academic requirements are chosen yearly through a lottery system.
MLK offers up to a six-year program of advanced science and mathematics studies, an optional 4-year Engineering pathway, a 5-year program of study in five world languages, and wide variety of cocurricular activities and leadership development opportunities.
