Dress Code
At MLK, our mission is to prepare all students for a successful-post secondary study and a productive, purposeful life.
As a part of Metro Nashville Public Schools, we are committed to fostering an environment that promotes academic excellence, professionalism, and personal responsibility. The way students present themselves reflects their readiness to engage in a focused and respectful learning environment. Our dress code is designed to support these goals by encouraging attire that is appropriate for an academic setting and aligned with expectations students may encounter in future collegiate or professional environments, while respecting individual expression, gender identity, and body diversity.
Metro Nashville Public Schools and MLK are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and distraction‑free learning environment. Students are expected to dress appropriately, showing respect for themselves and others. Inappropriate or disruptive attire will not be allowed. MLK will never resort to measuring any individual if a dress code is violated and will always put a student’s safety and well-being first.
